You Won”t Find Wealth This Way

There are many ways to gain financial wealth, and throughout this blog I will discuss the ones that are considered tried and true. There are also ways that you shouldn’t try. This is one of them.

I am on a 10 day vacation with my family in Las Vegas. As I walk the casinos I came to the realization that not everyone is here to vacation and have a good time. There are those who honestly believe they can beat the odds and become rich by gambling. Folks, chances are you won’t beat the odds. Casinos are in business to make money, huge amounts of money. Las Vegas last year hit the $1,000,000,000.00 mark in revenues generated. That’s one billion dollars.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy playing Blackjack and Craps every once in a while. But you have to understand you will lose many more times than you will win. Don’t gamble to attain wealth, gamble only if you are doing it for fun and entertainment. Here are a few rules that I follow:

  • Don’t play with money that is slated for bills, expenses or investments.
  • Set a gambling budget for the trip and don’t go over it. If you are going for three days then divide your budget into three equal amounts. This way you will alway have money for each day and won’t be tempted to use money slated for something else.
  • Learn to walk away. That’s the hardest thing to do. If you are ahead then set a threshold. If your winnings drop to that amount get up and leave.
  • Have fun and enjoy the experience.
